Deep Democracy International is a global, diverse co-learning community for Processwork / Deep Democracy, designed to support learners as they shape their own diploma path. The program aligns with IAPOP standards, emphasizes “Unity in Diversity,” and welcomes both beginners and experienced practitioners through online and in-person classes, events, and coaching.
DDII is built around collaborative, student-led learning: each person designs a personalized, dream-directed study journey with a coach, and can also pursue a dual diploma in collaboration with local training programs. The community also includes an annual leadership intensive/clinic and supports accessibility through scholarships and flexible arrangements, while regional communities (e.g., DDI Kenya, DDI Thailand, DDI Ukraine) operate with their own structures under a shared international ecosystem.

Deep Democracy Institute Ukraine
Deep Democracy Institute (DDI) Ukraine is an autonomous hub for learning, practicing, and living the Process Work and Deep Democracy paradigm. Since March 2022, a team of three Process Work diplomats—Anton Yermolenko, Serhiy Riabchuk, and Yuliya Filippovska, PhD—has been facilitating bi-weekly community meetings for Ukrainians in Ukraine and abroad during wartime. DDI Ukraine is also a broader community that includes Ukrainian DDII PW diplomats accredited by IAPOP – Anastasiya Leukhina, Maria Abyzova, Maria Makukha, Valerij Grishchuk; long-time learners, practitioners, and partners. It proudly collaborates with another PW school, PWI Ukraine, in joint community and training work.
Founded in Kyiv in 2008 by Dr. Max and Dr. Ellen Schupbach as part of DDI International, DDI Ukraine has a long history of training, organizational consulting, and collaboration with academic, business, and public institutions across Ukraine. Over the years, it has organized lectures, forums, Ukraine’s future summit, business clinics and leadership intensive, and since 2023 has operated as an autonomous hub within the Deep Democracy Alliance network. DDI Ukraine expresses deep gratitude to its founders, teachers, and the global community of Process Work diplomats for their ongoing guidance, collaboration, and a shared practice of living “unity in diversity”.

Living Together is a research-based community-building initiative that creates spaces where people can engage and connect across differences—especially in a polarized world. Through facilitated gatherings in teams, groups, and public spaces (including events in Bern, Geneva, and Biel/Bienne), it helps communities build relationships, grow networks, and develop skills for living and working together more effectively.
The project is focusing on making group dynamics visible, welcoming diverse viewpoints, and facilitating interaction between polarities so missing information can be integrated and new perspectives can emerge. Alongside public dialogues (often starting with short personal stories from speakers), Living Together also offers leadership and facilitation trainings—practice-heavy learning focused on innerwork, relationship and conflict facilitation, diversity/power awareness, and community leadership—plus coaching, research, and support for organizations and communities.

Deep Democracy Institute Kenya
DDI Kenya offers a locally rooted and globally informed education in Process-Oriented Psychology (Process Work), Deep Democracy, and Worldwork, grounded in the cultural and social context of Kenya, with the awareness of what happens on a global level. At the heart of our work is Kenya’s rich diversity, with an open invitation to intercultural exchange and learning across traditions, identities, and worldviews.
DDI Kenya is co-founded by Emmanuel Karisa Baya, Daisy Nduku, and Smith Mboya. Our vision is a locally led, IAPOP-affiliated Process Work diploma pathway that supports reciprocal learning between Global South and Global North students, faculty, and practitioners.Originally founded in Kenya as part of DDI International by Dr. Max Schupbach and Dr. Ellen Schupbach, DDI Kenya focuses on training individuals in: 1. Group facilitation for organizations and communities; 2. Conflict resolution and mediation; 3. Coaching and leadership development.
Our two-year Foundation Program is in an inclusive, post-colonial approach to education, that includes a personal and professional postgraduate learning path, where Global North and Global South practitioners co-teach and co-learn, senior and emerging facilitators work through real-world complexities together, and participants take active responsibility for shaping their own learning journeys.
DDI Kenya also engages in community-based and collaborative efforts together with our DDI Diplomates, who actively support the school’s programs and projects across Kenya. These collaborators include Flavia Wanja, Husna Said, Jenniffer Mwikali, Mildred Opondo, Christine Kuria, Timothy Maina, and Patricia Mwangangi. Our approach honors the complexity of diverse lived realities while fostering mutual accountability, creativity, equity, and collaboration in the ongoing evolution of the field.
